Instagrams of the Week: Inca Trail trekking

April 1, 2016 Mark Bonington

It was a week filled with unrivalled views, exploring ruins from the past and making new friends for our travellers on the Inca Trail. Four days of walking may be a challenge for your feet, but as you can see from these regrams, you’ll be rewarded with some of the most beautiful sights in Peru.

@tlano laces up her boots and gets ready for the hike of a lifetime.

Continuing along the trail, traveller @mshikuma explores the ruins of Patallaqta. Remains of Incan houses and a ceremonial shrine can be found here.

There’s always some time to hang out with locals, human or otherwise, as traveller @mick_xerri07 found out with this llama.

@abovetheclouds__ takes adventure to new heights – 4,215m (13,828 ft) to be exact – at the top of Dead Woman’s Pass.

Finally, a welcome to Machu Picchu from @vero_caccia_geo! Perched above the Sacred Valley, the reason why this city was built remains a mystery to this day. Could you unlock its secrets?
