Though small, Pondicherry was the largest of France’s Indian colonies. Today, Pondy is typical of Southern India; however, its older quarters are full of quiet, cobbled rues and boulevards lined with Mediterranean-style houses and bakeries. Grab some shoreline and pause a moment as morning rolls in.
