ITINERARY From the Nazca Lines and the heights of Incan archaeology to the beach at Ipanema, this 45-day long tour provides limitless opportunities for adventure. Explore the wetlands of the Pantanal, thundering Iguassu Falls, and the bizarre landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flats. In the thin air of the Andes, trek the challenging Inca Trail to legendary Machu Picchu – we run our own treks and ensure quality food and equipment, leaving you to focus on your next exhilarating step forward. DAY 1 LIMA Arrive at any time. DAY 2 PARACAS Enjoy a free morning in Lima before travelling to Paracas. ( 1B ) DAYS 3-4 NAZCA Opt to visit Ballestas Islands before heading to Nazca. En route, stop at a winery and at the Oasis of Huacachina. Take a guided tour of Nazca desert cemetery and potter's studio. Opt for a flight over the Nazca Lines before the night bus to Arequipa. ( 2B ) DAYS 5-7 AREQUIPA/COLCA CANYON Free day to explore the colonial city of Arequipa with an optional visit to the Convent of St Catalina. The Following day, take a full-day tour of the spectacular Colca Canyon, keep eyes peeled for condors. Return to Arequipa. ( 2B ) DAY 8 CUSCO Fly to Cusco. Opt for a city tour or to explore the city's markets, museums, and plazas. ( 1B ) DAY 9 SACRED VALLEY/ OLLANTAYTAMBO Enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo ruins. Stop at the G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op before visiting the Pisac ruins. Break for lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosco. Finish the day exploring the Ollantaytambo ruins with a local guide. ( 1B, 1L ) DAYS 10-13 INCA TRAIL/MACHU PICCHU Embark on the four-day guided Inca Trail hike ending at mystical Machu Picchu. Enjoy G Adventures- supported handmade biodegradable soap products provided on the trail. ( 4B, 3L, 3D ) DAYS 14-16 CUSCO Free time to explore Cusco or relax. Active options include whitewater rafting, horseback riding and mountain biking. Nature lovers can pre-book an optional adventure to the Amazon Jungle for a three-day/two-night excursion. ( 3B ) DAY 17 PUNO Travel day by bus from Cusco to Puno. Spend some time on arrival wandering the small city. ( 1B ) DAYS 18-19 LAKE TITICACA Two-day excursion to visit the floating islands of Uros and take a guided tour of Lake Titicaca with a homestay in a small village. Optional visit to Sillustani burial site. ( 2B, 2L, 1D ) DAYS 20-21 LA PAZ Travel by bus and cross the border into Bolivia, arriving at La Paz. Optional excursion to the Valley of the Moon or explore the city's winding streets and lively markets. ( 2B ) DAYS 22-25 UYUNI/SALT FLATS Travel by train and bus to the town of Uyuni for the three-day 4x4 excursion into the Uyuni Salt Flats and surrounding desert altiplano. Gaze out across the vast white desert of the salt flats and marvel at the red and blue lagoons within the altiplano. Enjoy the spectacular scenery, including volcanoes, salt lakes, and geysers. Stay in simple hotels with solar panels to provide electricity and hot water. ( 4B, 2L, 2D ) DAY 26 POTOSÍ Journey from Uyuni to Potosí. Spend the afternoon exploring the city. ( 1B ) DAYS 27-29 SUCRE Continue by bus to Sucre. Optional visit to the nearby dinosaur tracks or explore the beautiful colonial city. ( 3B ) DAYS 30-31 SANTA CRUZ/PUERTO SUAREZ Fly to Santa Cruz. Travel by overnight train to the Brazilian border at Puerto Suarez. ( 2B ) DAYS 32-33 CORUMBÁ/PANTANAL Two-day excursion into the wetlands of the Pantanal with a local guide. Opportunities to spot wildlife such as monkeys, macaws, giant otters, and caiman. ( 1B, 2L, 2D ) DAYS 34-38 BONITO/IGUASSU FALLS Travel by van to Bonito. Optional snorkelling excursions in the crystal-clear rivers. Continue by overnight bus to Iguassu Falls for two full days of exploration from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides. Opt to get a little wet and take a boat ride at the base of the falls. ( 4B ) DAYS 39-44 PARATY/ ILHA GRANDE/RIO DE JANEIRO Fly to São Paulo and continue by land to Paraty. Opt to visit a cachaça distillery or take a boat excursion in the bay and explore the nearby islands and beaches. Continue up the coast and take a ferry to Ilha Grande. Spend free time relaxing and exploring the island. Carry on to the exciting city of Rio and opt to explore on a city tour. ( 6B ) DAY 45 RIO DE JANEIRO Depart at any time.
