These ten days will take you through some of the greatest cultural highlights the country has to offer. Marvel at the gorgeous mosques in Samarkand, experience a one-night stay in a traditional desert yurt, and immerse yourself in the diverse culture of ancient Bukhara. Uzbekistan is a must-see for any seasoned (or first-time) traveller. DAY 1 TASHKENT Arrive at any time. DAYS 2-3 SAMARKAND Travel on to Samarkand. Take an orientation walk and opt to visit the Amir Timur Mausoleum. On Day 3, enjoy a city tour and visit to the Registan. Use some free time to wander the bazaar or visit more sights before dinner with a local family, complete with a plov-making demo. ( 2B, 1D ) DAY 4 AYDAR KŬL Travel out into the desert to enjoy a local yurt stay. Learn more about this way of life. ( 1B, 1D ) DAYS 5-6 BUKHARA Travel to Bukhara, one of the most charming cities in the country. Opt to visit the old city bazaars or visit a traditional hammam (bathhouse). The next day, take a half-day guided walk around the beautifully restored mosques, madrassas, and covered markets that make up the Old City. ( 2B ) DAY 7 KHIVA Enjoy a full day's travel through the desert to reach UNESCO-listed Khiva. Spend the evening getting to know the place. ( 1B ) DAY 8 KHIVA/TASHKENT Enjoy a guided tour of the city with free time to experience the local life. Opt to browse the shops, wander the lanes, examine handmade silk rugs, or sit in a café in this ancient historical town. Later, take an overnight train to Tashkent, travelling alongside the locals. ( 1B ) DAY 9 TASHKENT Arrive back in Tashkent and enjoy a city tour or explore on your own with some free time. DAY 10 TASHKENT Depart at any time.
