Long before Columbus, the sprawling empires of the Maya and the Aztecs stretched across these vast lands. The ruins and artefacts of their civilizations still mystify travellers the world over. The Spanish Conquistadors left their own indelible mark on the countries of their conquest, birthing the vibrant cultures which continue to this day. Tag along with our travellers as they document the lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and unique wildlife of this captivating part of the world.

A first glimpse of Tikal through the jungle, taken by #gadv traveller @claire_bear2410 in Guatemala. The seat of a powerful Mayan kingdom, it has been a popular spot for travellers and treasure hunters since being re-discovered in 1848.

Native to Central America, the black iguana is the fastest-running species of lizard in the world. This curious specimen was snapped by #gadv traveller @coenzyme_a near the famous ruins of Tulum, Mexico.
