Instagrams of the Week: Get Down Under

October 30, 2015 Mark Bonington

Want incredible diversity? Get yourself Down Under. The pristine beaches, rugged terrain and bustling coastal cities in this part of the world are the living embodiment of variety—and extremes. Sprawling deserts, enormous forests, snow-capped mountains and coral reefs teeming with aquatic life show off nature at it’s very best, and the busy, multicultural cities are packed with interesting folks with stories to share.

Australia's extremes offer incredible experiences to the travellers who are bold enough to embrace them. Hop on board with our travellers as they document the incredible landscapes, pristine beaches, and unique architecture Down Under.

First stop? Check out the sunrise over the Whitsunday Islands, captured by #gadv traveller @travisv88. The Whitsundays lie between the northern coast of Queensland, Australia, and the Great Barrier Reef. These 74 islands are surrounded by coral teeming with life.

Next, make your way to Uluru with traveller @markestorino to watch the sun light up the lands of the Outback.

Your next stop is Great Sandy National Park, featuring the stunning Noosa Everglades. This ancient waterway is a haven for Australian wildlife, including birds, lizards, snakes and kangaroos. Thanks to @gadventures Chief Experience Officer Alex P for this incredible shot.

Join Wanderer-in-Residence Gary Arndt outside of one of Australia’s most iconic sights: The Sydney Opera House. Gary’s tip for travellers? Photograph this famous landmark at night.

Find yourself alongside our own @goritski_gadv for the last stop on Fraser Island to witness this fiery dawn.
