Instagrams of the Week: Incredible India

May 22, 2015 Mark Bonington

Legend has it that colour film was invented specifically to capture the vibrancy of India. (Okay, we made that up, but still.) From architectural gems to iconic animals, this week our travellers offer up a look at the history and heritage of this land through Instagram, bringing you to the imperial Mughal city of Agra, home to sprawling haveli and Rajput-era palaces—and rural Rajasthan, as well.

To see these and more incredible traveller shots from around the world, follow G Adventures on Instagram! But for now, scroll down and enjoy a small taste of India:

Workers in the Mehtab Bagh, which translates as ‘Moonlight Gardens’, pose for #gadv traveller @mariotravels as he seeks a new angle on one of the world’s most iconic buildings.

The Amer Fort, Jaipur. Historically the opulent residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families, here it is wonderfully portrayed by traveller @superbelks on her #gadv trip to India.

@carriecoetzee captures the bright lights of a prayer ceremony on The Ganges at sunset.

G Adventures' own @dushyant_singhs took this picture of two magnificent tigers in India. The country’s national symbol, the tiger has inspired Indian myth and folklore for thousands of years, thanks to their strength, grace and power.

#gadv traveller @apickjones witnessed this traditional dance in Western Rajasthan—an incredible feat of balance.
