July 3, 2015 Mark Bonington

Courage. Love. Creativity. Energy. Red is the colour of strong emotions; one of the first ochres ever used by man in the earliest forms of art. Take a look below and see some of the ways our travellers have been moved and inspired by scarlet sightings on their travels, both natural and man-made.

Taken on the Lares Trek, traveller @tarabethwood snapped these smiling locals in Peru.

Monument Valley, the Colorado Plateau, where traveller @mog_nj spent a night under the stars.

A red sky lighting up the night in Gubeikou, China, taken by traveller @dpointr. In his own words, this picture was “shot while being barked at by a pack of local dogs, as I was the only person on the dark street of this tiny village. A brightly coloured home in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Thanks to traveller @saucyjac for sharing it with us!

A welcome from the women of the Maasai to our own @joffierski and her group as they visit the #Planeterra Clean Cookstoves project in Tanzania.
