Welcome to the end of the Earth! Patagonia: Where you will see some of the last unspoiled wilderness left on our planet. The air is fresh, the landscape is wide, and nature is like nothing you’ve ever seen.
This place is a true adventurers haven. I was fortunate enough to photograph the “End of the Earth” tour earlier this year, and let me tell you: hiking nine hours up a mountain with full photography gear was an extreme challenge. Trying to conquer such massive peaks like Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine was literally the most difficult thing I have ever done. At some points I asked myself, “WHY AM I DOING THIS?!” Nine hours uphill with a tripod and a backpack full of equipment was brutal, and on top of that, the wind and ever-changing weather never seemed to be on my side.
But then… you get to the top. I remember seeing the blue lagoon at the base of the highest peak of Fitz Roy. This may sound cheesy, but I did tear up a little; partly because I was in pain, but mostly because, once you get there, you realize just how much the effort was worth it, and how fortunate you are to see such a breathtaking sight.
