This week, we’re taking you to Jordan with our “Pics of the Week” to give you a taste of what you may experience in this mesmerizing country! Browse this week’s photos and learn all about Jordan’s astounding sites, including the capital Amman, the magnificent Nabataean city of Petra, the spectacular Greco-Roman ruins of Jerash, Lawrence of Arabia’s famous Wadi Rum, and many other historical and impressive sites throughout the Kingdom. A well-travelled bridge between sea and desert, east and west, Jordan is a land of impressive beauty and contrasts, from the Jordan Valley, fertile, ever changing, to the remote desert canyons, immense and still.

Did you know? Petra is home to over 800 individual monuments that include buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, and colonnaded streets—most of them carved from kaleidoscopic sandstone. Of them, the Treasury is the most popular—it is estimated to be over 2,000 years.

Qasr Amra is an early 8th century castle located in present-day eastern Jordan. Known for its well-preserved wall paintings, it is considered one of the most important examples of early Islamic art and architecture, which had led to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
