It’s Tuesday, so it’s “time” to “lapse” it up! (See what we did there?) Each week, we’ll share a new way of looking at this big blue planet of ours. A photo does a great job of capturing what we see with our own eyes, a time-lapse reveals just how little the eye can see. Turn yours towards today’s time-lapse and watch mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent Machu Picchu reveal itself. (Be sure to have your volume up to hear a little-known fact about this world-famous ruin.)
Built around 1450AD, “Machu Picchu” means “Old Mountain” in Quechuan, the language of the Inca Empire. The Incas were some of the best masons in the world and Machu Picchu’s 150 structures were so well built that not even a knife blade can fit between their stones. Let #TimelapseTuesday take you back in time.
Want touch these Inca structures with your own hands? G Adventures runs a number of departures to Peru encompassing a wide range of departure dates and activities to cater for different tastes. We’re thrilled at the prospect of showing you this big blue planet of ours— check out our small group trips here.
