Your Planet in 7 Seconds: Street feast in Madurai

October 8, 2015 G Adventures

Madurai in Southern India is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, having stood as a major metropolis for over two millennia.

Today, it is popularly called Thoonga Nagaram, meaning "the city that never sleeps". This is due to the active nightlife, including Madurai's famous street food markets. As a city founded on temples and trade the abundance of different dishes on offer is reflective of Madurai's own cultural melting pot. Culinary influences from all over India can be found here.

And through a shared love of food, travellers and locals are brought together in the bustling street culture.
