Now, we'd like you to meet our winner, selected by us at random: Jenna Furgiuele from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, who took the top prize with her completely bizarre, utterly hilarious, totally Unfiltered photo from a 2014 trip to Vietnam. "This was in Hoi An, Vietnam. I was with my two best friends, and we were backpacking through Southeast Asia. It was near the end of our trip. This woman had approached us two days in a row, saying "Come get manicures, come get pedicures, you girls need it." We were like you’re right, but no thank you.
Eventually we were like, let’s just go.
We walked with her for ten minutes to her salon, which was way back in an alleyway. She had other women in there working, but we were the only customers.
It started with manicures and pedicures. My friend had a broken toe, and the lady painted over the bruise. She just painted over half of her toe. Then, my one friend and I decided to do get our eyebrows threaded.
After that, the woman was like, "Oh, men don’t like hair. Do you want to get your armpits threaded, too?" I was the only one who said yes.
It was my first time threading. I’d waxed, but this was a new type of pain. I wanted her to stop. She kept saying no, two more minutes. The other woman was holding my arm back and stretching my skin, so it would be easier and faster. That’s why my face is in agony. It was a combination of me dying of laughter, but it was also so painful.
We actually saw the salon owner the next day. She was like, "Oh, beautiful girls, beautiful girls" —one of us with a broken toe painted over, and me with no hair anywhere on my body.
Since then, I’ve threaded my eyebrows, but I'll never thread another part of my body ever again."
