Ever had a moment like this in your travels? You’re sitting in some kind of vehicle, watching the landscape slip by outside. You’re taking note of the details – really collecting them to help form your impression of the country you’re in. One thing’s for certain: All you want to do is stop, get out, walk to the nearest village or city, and immerse yourself in the culture, far away from the travelling routes and right into daily life.
In Kenya, the Masai people live close to – and, in some cases, right inside – Serengeti National Park. Each year, thousands of travellers see them in their brightly coloured apparel, and witness the traditional dances made famous from years of tourist exposure. But to get a real sense of how the Masai live, you’ll need more than an afternoon.
We hope this visual adventure inspires you to see that slowing down and staying centered while you’re travelling will allow you to take delight in the details – for they are from what the whole is made.
