G Adventures Introduces New Overland Adventure Vehicle

September 30, 2015 G Adventures

In honour of its first 25 years, G Adventures hosted a special event in Toronto on September 29 to set the stage for its next quarter century. Dubbed ‘Ignite the Night’, the event saw the introduction of a number of new trips, a groundbreaking new partnership and several new initiatives that will positively impact lives all over the world. Check out our coverage here.

As the number of travellers seeking the quintessential G Adventures African overland experience increases so too does the requirement to provide ever more sophisticated Overland Adventure Vehicles (OAVs) in which to carry them. So, when it came time to refresh our fleet of African overland vehicles, we did what no other travel company has attempted—we designed our own!

Get the most out of your overland experience.

Today, we’re pleased to give you a first look at our new custom-designed OAV prototype, a revolutionary new mode of transport built to help you get the absolute most out of your overland experience. The G Adventures OAV is now entering production and it should be on the road (or off of it) in the new year.

The OAV boasts a larger more fuel efficient engine, offering improved torque to get through rough spots, increased acceleration and improved fuel economy—which helps keep the costs of travel down.

We’ve also removed the barrier between the cabin and the driver, allowing our CEOs to remain with their group, regardless of who’s behind the wheel!

The OAV is outfitted with a 250-litre water tank, which will allow passengers to refill their water bottles from the truck daily, drastically reducing plastic waste.

A great deal of time, energy, and money went into this all-new, first-of-its-kind OAV. It isn’t just a new truck—it’s an entirely new way to travel.
